Rita Marie Burton

Rita Marie Burton, 56, of Scotland, wife of Scott Burton, died Friday May 6, 2005 at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. She was born July 20, 1948 in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Edgar and Rita (Magee) Marshall, grew up in Providence and had lived in Scotland the past 12 years. She had been employed at various ALMACS grocery stores in Rhode Island for 22 years. She was an avid crafter and participated in numerous craft shows. Rita Marie was a devoted mother, involving herself in her daughter s various activities. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Anne Burton at home, 3 sisters and a brother, Roberta Lawton, Eleanor Schneider, Jo Ann Hosley and Robert Marshall, all of Rhode Island, 16 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Mitchell Prescott Burton and a sister Diane Marshall. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Scotland Cemetery.
