Richard F. Wielock Sr., "Chief" of Beaumont Highway, Lebanon, died Tuesday May 11, 2004 at Windham Community Memorial Hospital. He was born November 29, 1934 in Hartford, the son of the late Estelle (Tarala) Wielock and Francis J. Wielock Sr. Richard attended the Wilton School of Cake Decorating in Chicago. Throughout the years he received many awards for his cake decorating at various conventions. He joined his parents at their bakery, Barry Square, on Maple Avenue in Hartford. Richard followed his father to Willimantic where he opened the Sunkist Pastry Shop on Jackson St. In 1986 Richard opened his own bakery, Sunkist Pastry Shop on North Street in Willimantic. Most recently he was employed as a baker at Franco's Bakery in Willimantic. As a young man he was a member of the Naval Reserve. He was also active as a 4-H leader. Richard prided himself on being a hard worker and never missing a day of work. He is survived by his companion, Jean Durnell, his former wife, Marilyn of Storrs, daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Gille Halle of Storrs and their children Lindsay and Gille, a son and daughter-in-law Richard Jr. and Patricia of Lebanon and their son, Cole, a brother, Francis J. Wielock Jr. of California and a sister, Marianne Osgood of Newington. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Rte. 218, Bloomfield with assembly at the office at 1:45 p.m. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements. Please visit
