Richard Vertefeuille

June 14, 1935 — July 14, 2018

Richard E. Vertefeuille, 83, of Windham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018 after a brief illness. He now joins his wife of 58 years, Linda (Juan) who predeceased him on December 19, 2017. He is also predeceased by his parents, Julian and Viola and his sister, Janet. Richard leaves his daughter, Julie Stygar and her husband Kirk, his granddaughters, Leah, Hannah and Olivia, and great granddaughters, Ava and Mia; son, Steven and his wife Laurie, his grandson, Andrew and his granddaughter, Samantha, and great granddaughters, Audry and Avery; daughter, Sarah and her husband, Will Schramm and his grandchildren, Lloyd and Everett; sisters? in law, Nancy Mathis and Karen Mackewicz and her husband Michael and nieces, Lisa Gilmour, Jennifer Mathis, and nephews, John Mathis, Mark Mackewicz and Paul Mackewicz. There is also a large extended family that loved and cared for them. Richard was a man of many talents, ranging from his love of all things technical and all things beautiful. He had an insatiable love of reading and was an amazing artist. His love of painting included many subjects but most particularly his love of Sturbridge Village and the local history of colonial days. Richard was also a proud Marine veteran in his younger days. Julie and I would like to publicly thank Dr. Michael Keenan for his unending support and council. He was very fond of and attentive to our dad. We would also like to thank the staff at The Atrium at Rocky Hill for their personal, loving care of our father during his stay there. Most importantly we would like to thank our family members and friends for their love and support in helping to provide 24 hour care for our mom and dad. A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to a local art program.
