Richard Theriaque Obituary
Richard M. Theriaque, 66, passed away at John Dempsey hospital in Farmington, CT on December 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with a rare form of cancer. He was born on May 25, 1958 in Windham CT to Gladys (Mott) Theriaque and Richard Z. Theriaque. He was a 1976 graduate of Windham Technical School. Following graduation, he worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and Electric Boat in Groton and eventually retired from the Windham Public Works Department as a Foreman after 35 years. He proudly served for 25 years on the Chaplin Recreation Commission, became the Chairperson and was awarded a citizenship award for all his dedication to the town. He also served on the Chaplin Board of Finance for many years. He especially loved spending time with his family and took annual trips with his parents, children and grandchildren to Lancaster PA and Cape Cod. He also loved to travel with his wife throughout the US and Canada. They enjoyed watching UConn Basketball games and attending theatrical productions together. He had a passion for working on his landscaping and was proud of all his project designs and plantings. He took immense pride in everything that he did and was known for his commitment to a job well done. Anything less than “giving it your all” was not acceptable.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years Diane (LaCasse) Theriaque, his daughter Brigette (Theriaque) Alvarez and her husband David of Danielson, CT his daughter Michelle (Theriaque) Rosado of Mansfield, his precious grandchildren Alyssa Rosado of Charlotte NC, Morgan Rosado of Chaplin, CT, Mason Rosado of Mansfield CT, Dominic Alvarez of Woodstock CT, Lauren Alvarez, Drake Alvarez and Jordan Alvarez of Danielson, CT. He leaves behind his sister Tammy Theriaque of Arizona, Dianna (Theriaque) Geissert and her husband David of Columbia CT, and Laurie Theriaque of Willimantic, CT. He was pre-deceased by his Father Richard Z. Theriaque of North Windham, CT and his survived by his mother Gladys (Mott) Theriaque of North Windham, CT.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, on Sunday, January 5, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 PM. His funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, with burial to follow at North Windham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital which held a special place in his heart.
