Richard Sznurkowski Obituary
Richard "Dick" Sznurkowski, a cherished soul known for his wit and wisdom, passed away peacefully at his home on February 22, 2025, in Hampton, CT. Born on August 2, 1947, in Norwich, CT, his journey through life was marked by laughter, love, and an unwavering dedication to his family.

Dick grew up in the close-knit communities of Norwich, Willimantic and Hampton, Connecticut; where his early years were filled with the simple joys of childhood playing with his dog, hunting and fishing. He pursued higher education with a passion, earning a Bachelor's degree that would serve as the foundation for a remarkable career. Dick's professional life was a testament to his intelligence and work ethic, spending over four decades as an Experimental Engineer at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT. His contributions to the field were not just through his work, but also through the relationships he built, characterized by mutual respect and camaraderie.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dick was a loving husband to his late wife, Susan "Suzy” Sznurkowski, whose memory he held dear after her passing. He was a guiding light to his children, Richard (Heather) Sznurkowski Jr., Mary-Jean Sznurkowski and fiancé Konrad Buller, and Beth (Chris) Miner. His grandchildren were the absolute apple of his eye, Christopher, Joshua and Joseph Miner and Matthew, Andrew and Ava Sznurkowski and many nephews and nieces. He is survived by his sister Barbara (Dick) Miller, brother in-laws; Jim (Marsha) Morrison, Robert (Ivy) Morrison and sister in law Kathy Dzen. Dick was predeceased by his parents Francis (Frank) and Genevieve (Jean) Sznurkowski along with his Sister Frances (Franny) Sznurkowski and brother in-laws Michael Dzen and George Morrison. Everyone Dick considered family held a special place in his life, sharing countless memories and milestones.

Dick was a man of many interests, each reflecting his zest for life and his love for the world around him. He loved the New York Yankees and would rarely miss a televised game, he would always talk about how classy they were as a team. Billiards was more than a game to him; it was a dance of strategy and skill that he played with precision and joy. Bird watching allowed him to connect with nature, finding peace in the simplicity of flight and the beauty of the earth's creatures. Traveling with Suzy was one of his greatest pleasures, exploring new horizons and creating memories that he treasured throughout his life.

A connoisseur of clam dinners and clam chowder and ice cream, Dick's love for these delicacies was known to all who loved him. His palate for flavors was only matched by his appetite for life. Evenings spent watching NCIS and Bluebloods brought him excitement and a sense of thrill, as he admired the intricate storytelling of his favorite crime shows.

Dick's legacy is one of laughter and love. He was a man who could light up a room with his humor, challenge the intellect with his thoughtful conversations, and warm any heart with his loving nature. His passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide them.

The memory of Richard Sznurkowski will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing this funny, intelligent, and loving man. His stories will be told, his jokes will be shared, and his lessons will be passed down through generations, ensuring that his light will never fade from this world.

As we bid farewell to Dick, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved. Though he may have left the earthly realm, his presence will always be felt in the laughter of his children, the beauty of the birds he adored, and the hearts of all who were touched by his remarkable spirit.

In the words of his favorite crime shows, Dick's life was a case closed with love, honor, and a legacy that will endure. Rest in peace, Richard "Dick" Sznurkowski. Your story is one of a beautiful life, and it will be read with smiles and fondness for years to come.
