Richard E. Pratt, 79 of Lebanon, passed away on April 22, 2011 into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a short battle with cancer. Richard was born in Manchester, CT on Feb. 2, 1932, the son of the late Frank and Maude (Heritage) Pratt. He was predeceased by his siblings, sister Alice, and brothers William, Arthur, and Robert. He was also predeceased by his loving wife Louise (Beckwith) Pratt. Richard is survived by his children Kevin and his wife Marie of Lebanon, Kathryn Walden of Lebanon and Michele Miles and her husband Roger of Windham Center. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren Kevin Jr., Roxanne, Robert and R J ( Roger Jr); his 6 step grandchildren whom he thought of as his own and 9 great grandchildren. Richard served in the US Army between 1950 and 1952. Prior to his retirement he was employed by The State of CT Highway Department as a road maintainer. During his retirement years he could be found building replica covered bridges. Richard was a Boston Red Sox fan. He was also a life member of the South Windham Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Obwebetuck Grange # 206. Richard could be found in the summer months visiting friends and neighbors out on his swing. Richard was also touched by his step granddaughter Kelly ( Beaulieu ) for her love, care and time spent with him. The family would like to thank the staff of Douglas Manor for the care given at this difficult time. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday April 26th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 27th at 9:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town St., Lebanon. Interment will follow in Windham Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the South Windham Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 4, South Windham, CT. 06266 or to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town St., Lebanon, CT. 06249.
