Richard R. Novotny, 55, of Cards Mills Rd., Columbia, husband of Linda (Weaver) Novotny, died on Monday April 28, 2003 at home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 9, 1947 in Putnam the son of Richard and Marie (Nethal) Novotny. As a general contractor,he owned and operated Rich Novotny Inc. in Columbia. His projects included Stone Ridge Estates senior housing in Lebanon and he also helped design the new firehouse in Lebanon. Rich enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a sports car enthusiast. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter in law Jeffrey and Robin Novotny of Lebanon, a daughter and son in law Julie and Brian Robbins of Lebanon, a sister Joyce Edmond of Griswold, 2 grandchildren; Rebecca Novotny and Gregory Novotny, a niece and a nephew. A public funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, intersection of Rte 87 and 207, Lebanon, with the Rev. Sharon Ledbetter officiating. Private burial will take place in Patchaug Cemetery, Griswold. Please omit flowers.
