Richard L. Lafontaine, 53, of Chaplin, died Friday February 8, 2002 at his home. He was born August 2, 1948 in Willimantic, the son of Louis and Alice (Devillez) Lafontaine of Chaplin and had lived in the Windham area all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed as a mechanic by the Town of Windham. In addition to his parents he is survived by 3 children, Dorsey Diederich of Central Village, Douglas Lafontaine of Westerly, RI, Dennis Lafontaine of Chaplin, 3 brothers, Randy Lafontaine of Windham, Rodney Lafontaine of Chaplin, Ronald Lafontaine of Windham, several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Cedar Swamp Rd., Hampton. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. Wallingford, CT 06492-7522 or to a charity of the donor's choice. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements.
