Richard Kasacek, 74 of Willington, died Tuesday evening Jan. 15, 2002 at the Roncalli Health Center, Willimantic, after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 27, 1927 in Scotland. He worked at UConn in University Farm Services for 33 years. As a bulldozer operator there, he was responsible for the excavation of Mirror Lake and for the extension of Horsebarn Hill Rd. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Katherine Kay Kasacek, a son and daughter in law Richard James Kasacek and Ellen of Willington, 2 brothers; Stanley of Somers and Louis of Willington and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Karen and a sister Olga. He also leaves many friends and will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others. His family would like to express their gratitude to Roncalli Health Center and all of the nurses and aides, and a special thank you to Dr. Marjorie Petro for all she has done and her dedication to Richard. There will be no funeral services at this time. Cremation will take place.
