Richard G. Gaylor, 92, of Mansfield Center, beloved husband of the late Edith Gaylor, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

He was born in Mansfield on June 7, 1934, to the late Harold and Ingrid Gaylor. Richard grew up in Mansfield Center and graduated from Windham High School in 1954. On August 14, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Edith. Together, they made their home in Mansfield, where they lovingly raised their four children.

Richard began his career after high school at Electro Motive Company in Willimantic. His work in the manufacturing of silver mica chip capacitors eventually took him and his family to South Carolina. After Electro Motive closed, Richard established Mica Chip Capacitor Company in South Carolina. He later returned to Connecticut, where he continued his work in the mica chip capacitor industry with SEMCO in Willimantic.

A devoted member of his community, Richard served as a Boy Scout leader in Mansfield Center. He enjoyed bowling and participated in many bowling leagues over the years.

Richard and Edith created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends could gather and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing card games with those closest to him and spending time outdoors. His many interests included hunting, camping, boating, skiing, freshwater and saltwater fishing, and gardening. He took great joy in sharing his appreciation for the outdoors with those around him.

Richard was a kind, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, godfather, and friend. He cherished his family and was a special role model to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Edith Gaylor, and his brother, Burton Gaylor.

He is survived by his four children: Deborah Ann Grenier and her husband, Michael; Linda Gaylor Morrow; Ken Gaylor and his wife, Carol Elliott Gaylor; and Carl Gaylor. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Christopher Morrow and his wife, Tara, and Miranda Morrow Warshaw and her husband, Derick. Richard was further blessed with six great-grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness: Emmalyn, Ian, Stella, Ella Kate, Declan, and Mila.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 8, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Route 195), Willimantic, with a funeral service at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Mansfield Center Cemetery.
