Richard P. Gagnon, 70, of Coventry, CT, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 6, 1955, in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada, Richard brought joy, humor, and kindness wherever he went.
He graduated from Windham High School in 1973 and spent his career working at Papa Gino's, ACopy, IKON, Kaman, Munson's, and most recently retired from Amazon in 2023.
A longtime resident of Coventry, Richard was known for his energetic spirit and deep love of sports and community. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, softball, basketball, and boating on Coventry Lake. His talent on the field earned him a place in the Willi-Mac Softball Hall of Fame in 2010, and he was honored as Pitcher of the Year in 2010, 2014, and 2016.
Richard was a man of faith, proudly serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Coventry. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, easy smile, and devotion to his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Ginette Gagnon; his children, Derek Gagnon and Monique Gagnon Morrison, and her husband Shaun Morrison; cherished grandchildren Jaxon, Cameron, and Ruth; brothers Fernand Gagnon (wife Donna), Andre Gagnon (wife Jane), and Dennis Gagnon (wife Maria) and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a community of friends who will deeply miss him.
He was the son of the late Armand and Theresa Gagnon.
Richard’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Mary Church in Coventry, with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry.
