Richard Louis French

Richard L. French, 61, a lifelong resident of Willimantic, passed away peacefully on Monday September 16, 2013 at Regency Heights of Windham surrounded by his family. Born December 9, 1951, he was the beloved son of the late Norman A. and Ora French who also were lifetime residents of Willimantic. Richard had worked part time for Easter Seals, assisted with Meals on Wheels and also worked at miscellaneous special need work shops throughout Windham county. He loved the Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys and participated in many Special Olympic events. He loved to be together with family and enjoy a good meal. His past 15 years were spent in a group home in Willimantic run by March Inc. where he received the best of loving care. He leaves a sister in law Sally French of Coventry, his brothers Kenneth French and wife Monica of Willimantic, Gary French and wife Carol of Vernon and John French and wife Lorraine of Willimantic; 4 nieces, 5 nephews, 4 great nieces, 7 great nephews and many many friends. Richard was predeceased by a brother Norman R. French of Coventry. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday September 18th between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home , 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday September 19th at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in Windham Center Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his mother and father.
