Dr. Richard L. Demmerle, Jr., 56, of Mansfield Center, CT and formerly of NY passed away on December 14, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of Richard and Doris (Clayton) Demmerle, Sr.
Richard was a practicing veterinarian for almost 30 years, known as “the gentle doctor”. Most recently, he worked at Banfield Pet Hospital in Manchester, CT. He also helped in animal shelters for 15 years. Shelter work was his true passion. Richard was always helping those in need, often putting them before himself. He had his practice in Harlem, NY, offering low cost services so everyone could afford to keep their beloved pets. He encouraged countless people to become veterinarians or technicians.
He loved Star Wars and comic books and going to Comic Cons to add items to his various collections. As well as to take photos with “Z list” actors, as he called them.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea “Andi” Roessle, his parents, sisters Dawn Mehaffey and her husband Mike and Denise Imperial and her husband James; and his dogs Petey, London, Mocha, and Twizzy, as well as all his other pets.
His celebration of life will be held at a later date.
