Richard J. Chobot

Richard J. Chobot, 64, of Windham, husband of Josephine (Slovak) Chobot, died Friday June 21, 2002 at the Windham Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Mansfield the son of the late Joseph and Jeanette (Racicot) Chobot. He had been employed for many years as a union mason and also was self employed working on numerous buildings in the local area . Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Willimantic Elks for many years and will be remembered by many as an avid fly fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter in law Steven J. and Peri-Anne Chobot of Middletown, a daughter and son in law Deborah and Lonnie Okolotwicz of Greenville, S.C., 2 brothers; Michael of Tolland and Jeffrey of Ellington, a granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Chobot of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. His family suggests memorial donations to the Windham Hospital, 112 Mansfield Avenue, Willimantic, Ct. 06226. Arrangements through the Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic.
