Richard Bernier Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard W. Bernier. Richard passed away on Thursday October 13, 2022. He is the son of the late Amedie and Marie (Cormier) Bernier.



Richard was a proud Army Veteran, who received a purple heart, while serving in Vietnam in 1965.



Richard had started his career, working at Pratt & Whitney and American Thread. After leaving the American Thread he worked at Rogers Corp, Manchester and then became a liquor salesman before purchasing the Corner Package Store in Willimantic. He had sold the package store in 2002 and retired.



Richard was a hardworking man, that enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. He had a smile that would light up a room. He enjoyed telling stories of all that he had succeeded in throughout his life. Richard loved the beach and vacationing in Hawaii, with his wife. One of his favorite moments while vacationing, was swimming with the turtles. He had a passion for running and working out, daily. Richard had a love for Great Danes as well. He had made several friends through the years. He was a man of great conversation.



Richard leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Sabo) Bernier, his son Clifford Bernier, his daughter Deanna Rivera and her husband Carlos. He also leaves behind his niece and nephew, Marie Ouimette and James Duclos, his grandchildren, Miranda Rios, Noah Bernier, Cassandra Rios, Thomas Bernier, Logan Bernier and Roxcelly Rivera, his dog, Suzie. He is reunited with his sister Carole Duclos and her husband Roland and his dog Bruno.


The family wishes memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and the CT Humane Society.
