Richard "Dick" Albert Schleicher

Schleicher, Richard "Dick" Albert, of Lebanon, husband of the late Joyce (White) Schleicher, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at home. Born April 29, 1933 in Hartford he was the son of the late Albert C. and Doris (Purnell) Schleicher. He proudly served for the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. Dick graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1960. He was a teacher for the Manchester school system until he retired. He is survived by a daughter Kim (Schleicher) Derechin and her husband Josh of Elkview, WV and son Randy Schleicher and his wife Lisa of Durham, three grandchildren Zachary, Lucas and Maxwell Schleicher all of Durham, nephew David Schleicher of Lebanon, niece Kara (Schleicher) Auner of Beattyville, KY and several other nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert of West Hartford and Warren "Butch" of Lebanon. During his active retirement Dick enjoyed his time at home on his farm caring for his goats and other various animals, as well as, gardening and landscaping. He also dedicated much of his time and many resources to Joshua's Land Trust. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February, 26 at 10 a.m. at The Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St (Route 195), Willimantic, CT.
