Reble Spurlock

Reble Janet (Smith) Spurlock, 85, of Willimantic, died Saturday Oct. 16, 2010. She was born Jan. 16, 1925 in Okolona, MS the fourth of ten children of the late John Henry Smith and Darlene Sample Smith. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Reble graduated from Okolona High School and then attended Okolona Jr. College, receiving her Associates Degree. She completed her Bachelors Degree at Alcorn College, Alcorn, MS. Reble taught elementary school for many years in Grenada and Drew, MS. After the passing of her husband Booker T. Watts, she moved to Willimantic to be near her sister Carrie Lee Smith. Reble had been employed at Mansfield State Training School for over 30 year prior to retirement. She later met and married George Spurlock who died in 1976. Reble professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Clarks Chapel Church in Clarks, MS. Reble leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories, her sister Carrie Lee Smith of Willimantic, nieces Shirley Ann Stoney of Willimantic, Pandora Barnwell of New London, Patricia Pelatte of Willimantic; nephews Eugene Smith of Willimantic, William Smith Jr. of Groton; a stepson George Spurlock of Storrs, sister in law Gracie Hobson of Storrs, brother in law Kelley Spurlock of Willimantic as well as many other brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. The funeral service will be held at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday Oct. 22nd at 1:00pm with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:30pm.
