Randall Monroe Knight

Randall Monroe Knight, 61, of Scotland, CT, husband of Lynne (Gadzik) Knight, died suddenly September, 18, 2011. He was born in Providence, RI, April,22 1950, the son of Lilla and Monroe Knight. He received a BS degree in agriculture from the University of Connecticut, which lead to a career as farm manager at UConn. Randy was a man who never once flinched from the right thing to do. A generous man which led to a generous life. He was the beloved mentor of UConn students, Boy Scouts, 4H members & FFA members. He was also an active life-long member of the CT Sheep Breeders and the New England Sheep and Wool Growers. A quiet and reflective person he loved the outdoors and farm work which included lambing out ewes, shearing, making hay, camping, and long walks in the moonlight of the sheep pastures. He wrote poetry and loved jazz. Your loving family, together in the shadow of your passing, are embraced by the friendships gathered around them. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Lynne Knight, his brother and wife Ted and Norma Knight, and his three children Kathleen, Olney, and Jane Knight and grandson Tyler Knight-Temple. His family will receive relatives and friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. on Wednesday Sept. 21st between 5:00 and 8:00pm. His funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00am. A private burial service will follow at Spears Cemetery, in Foster RI .
