Randall A. Jeans, 70, of Willimantic, passed away Thursday April 17, 2003 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long battle with cancer. Randy was born in Stamford on May 12, 1932, the son of the late Randall A. Jeans Sr. and Catherine (Leitch) Jeans. He was a graduate of UConn and retired from the State of Connecticut Insurance Department where he was a principal examiner. He was a lifetime member of the Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, golfing and gardening. Mr. Jeans was a Little League coach in Willimantic for many years. He was also a fast pitch softball pitcher in the Willimantic and Hartford Leagues. He served as a medic in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by a son, Christopher and his wife Patti, 3 grandchildren, Katherine, Andrew and Daniel, all of Stafford Springs, 2 brothers, Russell of Honolulu, HI, Allan of Walhalla, SC, many nieces and nephews, 2 aunts, Dorothy and Virginia Leitch of Willimantic. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery on Club Rd. in Windham. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town St. Norwich, CT 06360.
