Ralph Earl Dyer

Ralph E. Dyer, 65, of Coventry, died Thursday May 26, 2005 at the Windham Hospital. He was born April 7, 1940 in Presque Isle, Maine the son of Wilmot and Kathryn (Bartley) Dyer of Windham. Ralph was a happy, outgoing man who loved music, cats, and all kinds of food. He enjoyed his jobs at Camp Horizon, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and WAIM where he won an award. Ralph was blessed by a widespread, caring community that supported him throughout his life; many were there to the end, surrounding Ralph with love. He was a client at Mansfield Training School before moving to the Oak Hill Group Home in Coventry. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother James of Coventry and his sister Judith Dyer of Windham. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 6:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church, 29 Puddin Lane, Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Storrs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial donations be sent to either Camp Horizons, P. O. Box 323, South Windham, CT. 06266 or to the Capital Improvement Fund at the First United Methodist Church, 29 Puddin La., Mansfield Center, Ct. 06250.
