Ralph C. Becker Sr

Ralph C. Becker Sr., 81, of Storrs, husband of Celia (Jurkovics) Becker, died Friday January 9, 2004 in Storrs. He was born August 15, 1922 in Phelps, NY, the son of Charles and Ethel (Goodman) Becker and had lived in Storrs the past 55 years. He was a U.S. Army O.S.S. veteran of World War II serving in England and Norway. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a purchaser at the University of Connecticut. Ralph enjoyed traveling and bowling, participating in various leagues at WilliBowl. In addition to his wife of 58 years he is survived by 2 sons, Ralph C. Becker Jr. and his wife Claire of North Windham, Jack E. Becker of Ashford, a granddaughter, Amanda Becker of Ashford, 2 sisters, Ruth Buffum of Newark, NY and Marion Grimsley of Manchester, NY, several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with funeral services at 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the Storrs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 100 Warren Circle, Storrs, CT 06268.
