R. James Sypher , 67, of Colchester, formerly of Willimantic, husband of Joyce (Pepin) Sypher, died Friday May 31, 2002 at the Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 8, 1934 in Willimantic the son of the late Raymond J. and Alice (Shea) Sypher. Jim was a graduate of Windham High School and of Mitchell College in New London. He served as the Town Clerk of Windham for many years until he retired. He later worked for the State of Ct. Dept. of Revenue as a Tax Assistor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son in law, Patricia and Richard Cavanagh and their daughter Katherine all of New York, a son Michael of Willimantic and a daughter and son in law Kathleen and Aaron Buch of Willimantic. He was predeceased by a sister Rosalie. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd., Windham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 238 W. Town St., Norwch, Ct. 06360. Arrangements through the Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic.
