R. Alan Marvel

Alan (Yonkie) Marvel, 73, son of the late Roy and Marjorie Marvel passed away at home in Coventry CT on Thursday, March 21, 2013. He was born in Willimantic on February 12th 1940. Alan served in the US Army from 1958-1961. He was an avid sportsman enjoying many years of hunting and fishing and watching NASCAR and also cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Alan was employed by Builders Concrete of North Windham from 1966 until his retirement in 2006. He is survived by his sons Guy and fiancAC. Shannon, David and wife Michelle, stepchildren Erin, Roberta, and James. His sisters, Joan Brown, Carol Higgins and husband Dick, Lynn Slugg and brother Kenny, grandchildren, Alan, Scott, Shannon, Erika, Michelle, Robert, Jimmy, and Miranda, great grandchildren Danielle, Dylan, Cameron, Cash, and Brody, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alan was predeceased by his wife Virginia (Brown)Marvel, brothers Mickey and Richard, stepdaughter Jeanine and grandson Benjamin. Alan, we all love you and forever will hold you in our hearts! His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM.
