R. Dennis Gorgoglione

October 1, 1979 — June 30, 2013

R. Dennis Gorgoglione R. Dennis Gorgoglione, 33, of Willimantic, went home to Christ on June 30, 2013. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Ellyn Gorgoglione of Idaho Falls, ID (formerly of Willimantic); his sister, Liz Gorgoglione Johnson of Marlborough, CT (formerly of Willimantic); three nieces, Chloe, Caitlin, and Olivia Johnson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Dennis was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Michael Gorgoglione and Marguerite "Peggy" Smith; and his maternal grandparents, Vine and Helen Palmer. Dennis was born in Willimantic, CT October 1, 1979 and attended Windham High School and Three Rivers Community College. Dennis lived in Norwich for a short time but ultimately came back to his roots in Willimantic where he dedicated himself to helping all those around him. He strove every minute of every day to do what was right and always had a smile to go with whatever he was doing. Dennis hungered for knowledge and dedicated his life to searching for answers to anything he could, especially if it was to help a friend or stranger in need. Dennis did not hesitate for a moment when someone was in need and willingly braved the worst of weather on foot or by bike to be by someone's side and help them through. Dennis spoke up for what he felt was right and just without any guile. Life threw many challenges to Dennis and he faced each one with courage and his faith in Jesus Christ. Forgiveness came easy to Dennis no matter who or what the reason and he cherished every relationship that he formed. He had strong convictions and an even stronger, unwavering faith in Christ and those that he shared these with could feel his love and compassion. Dennis touched and influenced many individuals and gave people hope, faith, a sense of self-worth. He made it his mission every day to help those around him and always put others first. The world has lost a remarkable and unforgettable young man. May your spirit live on, Dennis. The Gorgoglione family would like to express their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to all those who led, guided, mentored, listened, and prayed with Dennis; namely St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Covenant Soup Kitchen, the Windham No-freeze Shelter, the Windham Region Community Council (WRCC), The Lighthouse, and the First Baptist Church of Willimantic. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Dennis is open for all and will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Thursday July 11 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Address of the church is 511 Ashford Center Road (Route 44) Ashford, CT. A graveside service at St. Joseph's cemetery in North Windham is planned for Friday July 12, 2013 Dennis volunteered a significant amount of time at the Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic as well as supported a cause very dear to him, the Asperger's Association of New England.
