Phyllis (Cannarella) Galeota, 89, of Ashford, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away Sept. 5, 2013 at Mansfield Center For Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph to whom she was married for 62 years. Phyllis was born in Hartford on April 11, 1924 the daughter of the late Santino and Antoinette Cannarella. She graduated from Bulkeley High School and went on to work at Phoenix Mutual Ins. Co. and later at the American Lung Assoc. Phyllis resided in Wethersfield for 44 years where she was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church and was a member of the women's club there. She also belonged to the Newington Knights of Columbus Kaycee's. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Joanne Stevenson and her husband Jake and her son Joseph Galeota and his wife Vida. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Christopher Stevenson and his wife Amy, Jessica Lathrop and her husband Rob, Marisa and Philip Galeota and her great grandchildren, Jake Stevenson and Joseph Lathrop. She is also survived by her sister Mary Guasta and her husband Matt. She was predeceased by her stepfather Frank Sardo, brother Vincent Sardo and beloved sister Tina Tramadeo. Phyllis also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friends in the Albert Ave. neighborhood. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday Sept. 8th between 3:00 and 5:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30am at St. Philip The Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd. (Rte. 44) Ashford with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Philip Cemetery.
