Phyllis Aspinall

Lebanon: Phyllis Louise (Wilcox) Aspinall, widow of Gurdon A. Aspinall, of Trumbull Highway, passed away on Tues. Oct. 26, 2004 at Haven Health in Willimantic. Phyllis was born in Brighton, Mass. on June 12, 1917 and was the only child of the late Frederick and Hester Mary (Baker) Wilcox. She was a graduate of North Weymouth High School and Framingham State Teacher's College. Her teaching career began at Lyman Memorial High School in Lebanon, where she taught several subjects. She then taught at Nathan Hale Ray School in Moodus, before continuing her career at Windham High School, where she was a beloved Home-Economics teacher from 1955 to 1977. During this time, she and her late husband owned and operated their Briggs Road dairy farm. Phyllis had many loves in her life: her family, traveling with "the girls", crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing, a good card game, and the Red Sox. She was a member of the Lebanon Firewomen's Auxiliary, the Lebanon Senior Citizens, and various teachers' organizations. She is survived by two daughters, Louise P. Rheaume and her husband Paul of Ashby, Mass., Mary Lou Beckwith and her husband Stuart of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Brian A. Beckwith and his wife Anna, Barbara E. Archer and her husband Bill, Bonnie B. McAneny and her husband Matt all of Lebanon, Arthur Jankowski and his wife Kris of Delaware, and Phyllis Jankowski of New Mexico; and twelve great-grandchildren, Victoria and April Beckwith, Jack and Drew Archer, Nick and Jake McAneny, Eric and Mark Jankowski, and Samantha, Hannah, Tyler, and Justin Gonzales. Phyllis will always be remembered for her giving spirit, and her devilish smile. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00am with burial following in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
