Phillip Haddad

Phillip Haddad, 71, of Woodland Dr., Windham, husband of Carolyn (Smith) Haddad, died peacefully on Saturday Oct. 8, 2005 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 24, 1934 in Willimantic the son of Raymond and Malackie (Haddad) Haddad. He retired as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Mansfield Branch of Fleet Bank. Mr. Haddad was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mansfield. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. Mr. Haddad was a Gold Card Life Member and Past Commander of James J. Shea Post #19 American Legion where he had been extremely active in the Boy s State Program on local, state and national levels. He was also a life member and Past Commander of AMVETS Post #2, a member of Gold Star Post #1724 VFW, member of Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada/U.S. Unit, member Korean War Veterans, member Enrico Post#2 N.Y. Men s Auxiliary, life member of Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311, life member Lebanese-American Club, member of Connecticut Bank and Trust Alumni Club, treasurer of Crime Stoppers of Windham, member of Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels and member of the UConn Club and UConn Alumni Assoc. Mr. Haddad interviewed candidates for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. for Senator Christopher Dodd. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Peter Haddad and his wife Darlene of Willimantic, 2 daughters Dianne Howard and her husband David of Newport News, VA. and Joanne Haddad and her partner Rose Kurcinik of Willimantic, 9 grandchildren, Dustin and Jennifer; Phillip, William and Andrew; and Kristen, Nicholas, Cindy and Wendy and numerous nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday between 5:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, 29 Puddin Lane, Mansfield , with interment following in New Willimantic Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
