Peggy Mcnally

May 18, 1940 — January 21, 2013

Peggy Jo McNally, 72, of Windham CT, beloved wife of Thomas J. McNally Jr., passed away on January 21st, 2013 at Douglas Manor Nursing Home. Born in Iola, KS, on May 18th 1940, the daughter of the late Walter and Faye Sutterby. She grew up on a farm in Mapleton KS, graduated from Blue Mound High School, was a member of the Mapleton Methodist Church, and was employed by Key Work Clothes and Braymore Coat Factory, and the Town of Windham. As a child she had an affinity to being outdoors on the farm, whether it was being in the fields with her father or jumping bales of hay with her horses. In 1974 she moved to Connecticut with Thomas J. McNally Jr., and in January of 1975 took his hand in marriage. With her marriage she also became the proud stepmother of six boys and one girl. Later that year she gave birth to her baby boy. She loved taking her stepchildren, son, and eventually her grandchildren, to her Kansas farm in the summer time. She used this time to show them what life is like growing up on a farm, and loved to watch as they learned to bale hay, milk cows, feed calves, drive tractors, and most of all, ride horses. While she loved being able to share her childhood experiences with her children and grandchildren, this was also her moment to enjoy spending time with her parents and siblings staying up late at night with them to look at old family pictures and catch up on the gossip of her home town. While she enjoyed making family memories in the heart of the country, she never shied away from taking trips on the east coast with her husband and son. Whether it was the dunes in Cape Cod, the monuments of D.C., or the quiet cabins in Vermont, she went to each place ready to see new sights and make new memories. She is survived by her husband Thomas J. McNally Jr. of Windham, CT; her son John McNally and his wife Nova McNally of Victoria, MN; her stepchildren, Matthew McNally and wife Susan McNally of 29 Palms, CA, Mona Studebaker of Chesterfield, SC, Eugene McNally and wife Carol McNally of Portsmouth, VA, Phillip McNally and wife Donna McNally of Willimantic, CT, and Thomas McNally of Windham, CT; along with 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Marlyn Sutterby and wife Virginia Sutterby of Mapleton KS, Joyce Hueston and husband Raymond Hueston of Mapleton, KS, Jack Sutterby and wife Bonnie Sutterby of Mapleton, KS, and Sharon Lund and husband John Lund of Jasper, MO. She is predeceased by her parents Walter and Fay Sutterby; her in laws Thomas J. McNally Sr. and Catherin McNally, her stepchildren Chris McNally and Keith McNally, her grandchild Christopher McNally Jr., her nephew Jeffery Sutterby, her grandnephew Justin Heuston, and her grandniece Stephanie Heuston. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, January 27th 2013 between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. In March of 2013, a funeral service will be held in Mapleton, KS. Donations can be made to the Mapleton Fire Department in care of Jolene Crystal at 1184 W. 100 Road, Mapleton, KS 66754.
