Pauline Neckermann, 75, of Columbia, CT passed away May 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She had a brave and spirited battle against brain cancer. She was born in Highgate, Vermont. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Leo Neckermann who will now be reunited with his beloved "PD." She leaves behind two children (but they're used to it) a son Michael Neckermann, daughter Hilary Neckermann and her husband Dexter Heron. She also leaves behind a brother, Patrick McClafferty and his wife, Rosemarie as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a Tonka. She loved living in New England four months out of the year. The other eight, she just tolerated, which is why she enjoyed traveling so much. Highlights included a long trip to England and Italy with Leo and a wedding anniversary trip to Key West on New Year's Eve. Pauline could rarely be found without a book and made sure that each night ended with a little quality reading time. People often sought Pauline out for her sound advice and she proved to be a valuable and comforting therapist to many a stranger. Pauline had many hobbies and was often in the middle of a few different ones. Gemstones was her most recent but she also enjoyed piano playing, studying ancient cultures and their artwork and any kind of puzzle that highlighted her being a number's wiz. Her knowledge about The Academy Awards was extensive. Pauline's father Homer, passed away when she was only 21, and she even surmised that because she always had watched them with him, it made her feel closer to him, so she never missed them. Her passion for life, her love of animals and her sharp (sometimes too sharp) wit was unique and she will be greatly missed by most who knew her. Funeral services for Leo and Pauline Neckermann will be held at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, Thursday May 21, 2015. Visiting hours will be from 9-11am with an 11:00am service, followed by burial at St Joseph Cemetery.
