It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Pauline M. Frey, who left us on November 12, 2025, at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and our devoted dad, Frederick W. Frey, who she was married to for fifty-eight years.
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on August 3, 1937, Pauline was the daughter of the late Victor and Marguerite Houle and sister of the late Claudette Finck. She grew up in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and later attended Cooley Dickinson School of Nursing in Northampton, Massachusetts. As a registered nurse, she worked in several hospitals as a medical/surgical and emergency room nurse. Eventually, Pauline became the beloved school nurse at Tolland High School where she cared for students and staff for over thirty years.
Pauline was known for her genuine kindness, generosity, and compassion. Her sparkling blue eyes and warm smile made everyone feel welcome. Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends, and of course, her love for cats, especially Gus.
Pauline is survived by her three children, Heidi Leone (Mark) of Mansfield, Connecticut, Karl Frey (Paula) of Warren, Vermont and Gretchen DeNeill (Bob) of Manchester, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren - Billy Palaskas (Jen), Stacey Palaskas (Sean), Tyler DeNeill (Natalie), Alyssa DeNeill (Xavier), Nicole Palmer (John), Connor Frey (Chandler) and Braden Frey (Olivia) - as well as eight great grandchildren, Tabias, Emily, Ellie, Addie, Mina, Ginny, Deven, and Riley. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. We are incredibly grateful for her treasured friend, Joe Parent, who will always be part of our family.
A memorial service will be held on December 13, 2025, at 11AM at the United Congregational Church in Tolland, Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Pauline’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, 10 Executive Drive, Suite 202, Farmington, CT 06032
Mom will be deeply missed, but her love and memory will remain forever in our hearts.
