Paul Metsack

Paul Metsack, 88, of Laurel La., Ashford, husband of Rose (Hajma) Metsack, died Sunday March 31, 2002 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born Jan. 26, 1914 in Ashford the son of Michael and Mary (Caribin) Metsack. Prior to his retirement, Paul owned and operated the Midway Service Center in Ashford. He was a member of the Ashford Volunteer Fire Dept. and was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and woodworker. He was a douser, having the natural ability to find ground water. Paul was a communicant of St. Philip the Apostle Church, Ashford. In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 sons; Paul M. Metsack Sr. of Ashford, Richard Metsack of Old Saybrook and Robert S. Metsack and Michael T. Metsack both of Ashford, 2 daughters; Rosemarie Piecyk of Pomfret Ctr. and Elizabeth Ann Piecyk of Suffield, a sister Elizabeth Christianson of Middletown, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at St. Philip The Apostle Church, Rte 44, Ashford, with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the Ashford Volunteer Fire Dept., Ashford, Ct. 06278.
