Paul R. Gruver

Paul R. Gruver, 50, of Canterbury, husband of Nicole (Cournoyer) Gruver, died Wednesday June 22, 2005 at home. He was born Nov. 11, 1954 in Willimantic where he resided until moving to Canterbury in 1993. Paul attended Windham High School and served 10 years in the U.S. Navy. Prior to retiring due to illness in 1998, he was employed as a cook at the state dormitories at UConn for 10 years. Paul enjoyed golfing, the Red Sox and the UConn Huskies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson Eric Hazeldine and his wife Stephany of Kansas; 2 stepdaughters, Tracy Hansen and her husband Eric of CA. and Lynda Jolie of Canterbury; a sister Diane Costello and her husband Robert and their children Jonathan, Amy and Jessica of VA., 2 granddaughters, Hannah Hazeldine and Olivia Hansen; and his aunt and godmother Lorraine Kane of Norwich. He was predeceased by his mother Dolores (Gagnon) Gruver. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Saturday between 10:00 and 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am. Following cremation, burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 238 W.
