Paul J. Corey

February 7, 1942 — July 27, 2025

Paul J. Corey, passed peacefully at home on July 27, 2025 and is now holding hands for eternity with his beloved wife Barbara. Born in Boston on February 7, 1942, he lived most of his life in Dedham, Massachusetts. The couple made a home in Coventry, Connecticut over the last few years.

Many words could be used to describe Paul, most importantly among them would be husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He was the son of the late John and Mary (McElman) Corey. Barbara, his wife of 62 years and high school sweetheart, passed in 2022. Paul was also predeceased by his son, Paul J. Corey, Jr. This Dad is survived by his children and their spouses; Edward Corey and wife, Laurie, Catherine Beckius and husband, Christopher, Jeannette Wengloski and husband, Mike, and Kevin Corey. Grandpa leaves; Corey Palmer, Haley Palmer, Timothy Corey and wife, Katie, Kristine Corey, Allyson Adams and husband, Drew, and Matthew Beckius and wife Kelsey. Great-Grandpa leaves Bailey, Cooper, Preston, Archer and Owen.

Paul ran a successful painting and decorating business; a business which was started by Barbara’s grandfather. He loved sharing his craft and knowledge, leading him to be active in the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America - rising in the ranks to become National President of the organization. Paul and Barbara travelled the country and world representing PDCA; creating a community of lifelong friends. The couple was also woven into the fabric of their Dedham community, working tirelessly on numerous organizations and boards, Dedham Jaycees and Dedham Historical Society most significantly. Paul was one of the most civic-minded citizens one will ever meet. His endless thirst for knowledge led to visits to historical sites and he always had a historical novel next to him.

His children and grandchildren, along with friends scattered everywhere, will be reminded of Paul through paint brushes, books and the smell of a fresh cigar.

Care of private funeral arrangements has been entrusted to the Potter Funeral Home of Willimantic, CT.
