Paul J. Barbeau, 88, died February 28, 2015 at St Joseph Living Center in Willimantic, CT with his family by his side. He was born in Danielson, CT on May 30, 1926 the son of Adelard and Doris Barbeau. He joined the Marine Corps at a young age and proudly served during WWII in Okinawa. After returning from the war he met and married the love of his life, Lea, and was happily married for 68 years. He was employed by SNET and retired after 35 years. After retiring he spent summers at his log cabin in Blue Hill, Maine or as he would call it, "God's Country". He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours in pursuit of trophy fish. He is survived by his wife, Lea and his three children; Paulette and her husband Willy Coln of Louisiana, Gary and his wife Coleen of New Jersey and Linda and her husband Rick Monahan of Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his brothers Bernard, Richard and Roger of Danielson, Connecticut. Paul is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Joseph and Michael Smith, Brett Schomer, Dylan Barbeau and Daniel, Michael and Ryan Monahan in addition to his five great grandchildren; Baylor, Leah, Zander, Lucy, Nayeli and Finn. His family will receive family and friends on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson Street Willimantic, with assembly at the church. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd., Windham. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Living Center for their excellent care for Paul.
