Patrick Laveway

December 14, 1945 — February 28, 2025

Patrick L. Laveway, Jr.

Loving husband and father died peacefully at home with his wife by his side on February 28, 2025. Born on December 14, 1945 in Presque Isle Maine to Patrick Laveway, Sr and Pauline (Johnston) Laveway. He grew up helping his father tend to their potato farm, along with many farm animals.
This is where he developed his love for animals and became a loving caretaker of many dogs and cats through the years.

At age 17 he enlisted in the Marines and was sent to Vietnam where he served from 1964 to 1967 as a Gunnery Sargent with Force Recon. He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star during that time. When he got out of the service he worked as a tool and die maker for 17 years, Meanwhile attending college majoring in Computer Science. He was offered a job with TRW and eventually was promoted to Vice President of Operations. When the CT facility was closed they offered him a position at their main office in Chicago. He turned that position down to stay in CT to be close to family and his 2 children from a previous marriage as well as the woman he was planning on marrying (they have been together for 37 years). He found a job working at UCONN where he completed his Bachelor's degree In Computer Science and after 19 yrs. retired as a Computer Support Specialist.

When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Pat loved going to Blondies for an early morning breakfast to socialize with the locals, many of which became friends. Everyone loved his quick wit and sense of humor. Pat was a man of many talents, loved going fishing, playing golf and doing woodworking projects in his barn. He also enjoyed painting landscapes to relax (used to watch Bob Ross). In his younger years he was a real gear head and spent hours working on his muscle cars.

Pat will be deeply missed by the friends and family who knew this caring man who many times reached out to those in need. We will forever cherish his memory. Pat was predeceased by his father Patrick Laveway, Sr. and mother Pauline Laveway, his brother Timothy Laveway and brother-in-law Thomas Reagan. He is survived by his loving wife Diane (Nejime) Laveway, son Stephen Laveway and wife Amy, daughter Michelle and husband Joseph Sheets. He also leaves behind his sister Margaret Reagan, 3 grand daughters and 2 great grand daughters along with nieces and a nephew.
