Patrick Joel Hebert of Columbia ended his life's journey surrounded by his loving family on Thursday May 12, 2011, following a valiant battle with cancer. Born on October 9, 1932 in Ste. Agatha, ME, he was the son of the late Isabelle (Roy) and Joseph Hebert. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Hebert, daughter Hope and son-in-law Vincent, grandsons Marcus, Lucas and Nicolas Mangili of Hingham, MA; daughter Maureen and son-in-law Matthew, granddaughter Sophia Misuraca of La Quinta, CA; son Joel Hebert of Willimantic, CT and grandson Joel (J.P.) and his mother Tammy Konarski of Lebanon; daughter Karyn and son-in-law Michael, granddaughters Kayla and Jamey Martyn of Windham, CT, son Robert and daughter-in-law Christine Victor, grandsons Randy, Cole and James of East Haddam, CT; a brother and sister-in-law, Rene and Loretta Hebert of Presque Isle, ME and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Emile, Joel and Albert and sisters, Lillian, Jeanne, Yvette, Diane, Roseanne, Adrinette and Ernestine. Patrick attended schools in Ste. Agatha, ME and served in the Armed Forces from 1953 to 1955 stationed in Germany under the 2nd Armored Division as a C.W. Operator and received an honorable discharge achieving the rank of Corporal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1744 in Willimantic, CT. He achieved the rank of 3rd degree as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Pat was employed by Superior Music which later became Self Service Sales, Music & Games for 42 years. Following retirement, he was employed for 5 years on a part-time basis for Southern Auto Sales. He served his community as a Columbia Town Constable and also in the auxiliary for the CT State Police. His interests and hobbies included fishing and woodworking. Pat had an easy, affable character, and will be forever loved and missed by those who knew him best. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Walter McPhee, Dr. Mark Dailey & the Oncology Associates staff, Dr. David Kloss and the CCU nursing staff at Windham Community Memorial Hospital for the care and comfort they provided. His family will receive friends and relatives at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) in Willimantic on Monday May 16th, between 6:00 and 8:00pm. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday May 17th at 11:00am with internment following in Columbia Center Cemetery, Route 87, Columbia, CT.
