Patricia Ryan

Patricia Ryan, 72, passed away on the evening of Monday, June 12 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. Patricia was born February 2, 1945 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Virginia (n?e Griffin) and John Ryan. After graduating from Teaneck High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor?s Degree from the University of Maryland, and a Master?s Degree in Education from the University of Connecticut, before embarking upon a career in teaching. In 1967, Patricia married Michael Meyer and subsequently had two sons, Timothy and Matthew Meyer, initially raising them as a stay-at-home mom. In 1987, she returned to teaching at Brooklyn Elementary, where she continued to work until this past May. Patricia was an avid reader, who loved antique shopping with friends and sitting on her porch on Sundays, enjoying the peace and quiet of the outdoors. Since 2003, she delighted in her annual summer trip to upstate New York near Lake George joining childhood friends to laugh uproariously, drink wine, relax, and enjoy each other?s company. Patricia was a hardworking, ethical, and caring woman, whose quirky sense of humor, earnest advice, and perceptive observations will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors. She is survived by her sons and her sister, Barbara McCall. Calling hours are scheduled at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St, Willimantic, CT 06226, on?Wednesday, June 28?from?5PM to 7PM.
