Patricia Ann Machado Labrecque passed peacefully on June 6, 2025, surrounded by love and in the spirit of those who went before her.
Born on April 4, 1935, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Pat was the daughter of Helen Chandanais Machado and Everett Machado. She grew up in Fall River alongside her brother, Everett “Mac” Machado Jr., and experienced the love of two families after her parents’ divorce—with the addition of her devoted stepfather, Ernest Corgino, and kind stepmother, Annie.
Her lifelong best friend and partner-in-crime was her Aunt Joyce Chandanais Powers Melanson Winger, just a year younger than Pat, and her beloved Uncle Jim. The stories they shared were legendary, filled with laughter and joy.
At age 14, Pat met the love of her life, Joseph Andre Labrecque (Andy to family), while flirting in a local grocery store where he worked. Years later, fate brought them back together, and they were married on July 31, 1954. They moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where they built a beautiful life together.
Their family grew quickly: daughter Kathy was born in 1955, followed by Patty in 1957, Paul in 1963, and James in 1965. With each new chapter—often marked by a new house and a new baby—Pat poured her love into raising their children and building a warm, welcoming home.
Pat was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, in Newington, where she sang in the choir and later Holy Spirit. She was a talented artist who loved painting with oils and watercolors, and she had a knack for all things crafty—knitting, crocheting, and sewing with joy. An excellent cook (though she’d admit baking wasn’t her strength), Pat loved to entertain. Her dinner parties, Christmas Eve buffets that lasted into the early hours, and summer gatherings were treasured traditions. She never said “picnic”—believing it was a surefire way to bring rain!
She and Joe enjoyed reconnecting with lifelong friends from Fall River—“the gang”—who remained close no matter how far they were scattered.
Pat is lovingly survived by her children: Kathy and David Barnett, Patty and Rick Rossignol, Paul and Christina Labrecque, and James and Cindy Labrecque. Known as "Nana," she adored her grandchildren: Melissa and Vinney Kowell, Greg and Laura.
