Patricia Ann Gavitt

Patricia A. (McGuire) Gavitt, 67, of Oak Hill Dr., Willimantic, wife of Alexander R. ?Bud? Gavitt, died Friday Feb. 28, 2003 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 7, 1935 in Westerly, R.I. the daughter of James and Margaret (Smith) McGuire. She was a 1954 graduate of Stonington High School. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family. Birdwatching and taking family vacations in New England and New York were also enjoyed. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Willimantic. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Stephen R. Gavitt of Willimantic, 2 daughters, Susan L. Gavitt of N. Windham and her friend John Wheeler of Storrs and Cheryl A. Bertora and her husband Paul of Lebanon, 3 brothers; William McGuire of N. Stonington, James McGuire of Westerly, R.I. and Joseph McGuire of Pawcatuck, 2 sisters; Eleanor Plante of Greenville, R.I. and Margaret White of Westerly, R.I., 2 grandchildren; Nicholas and Emily Bertora of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, Ct. on Monday from 10:00 to 10:30am prior to the procession to her 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Mary?s Church, Valley St. Willimantic,Ct. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
