Patricia Asher Obituary
Patricia (Welch) Asher, age 73 of Hebron, CT passed away on December 13, 2024, at Backus Hospital after a brief but very brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family at the time of her death.
Pat was born on July 6, 1951, in Providence, Rhode Island to the late James B. Welch and Therese (Connelly) Welch. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 1973 and worked in the childcare field for over 30 years both at Windham Hospital in Willimantic, CT and Capitol Child Development Center in Hartford, CT. She was a well-loved teacher who impacted each family she encountered.
The most important thing to Pat was her family. Together we enjoyed many beach vacations, family dinners, holidays, and other special occasions. She was a kind, thoughtful, caring person and was truly a cornerstone of our small, but very close-knit family. Her loss is one we are feeling profoundly.
Pat also shared wonderful times with her close group of friends enjoying their poker nights, annual birthday celebrations, and weekly restaurant excursions over the years.
Pat is survived by her loving daughters Megan McGrew and her husband Thomas of Tolland, CT and Bethany Longmore and her husband Mark of Glastonbury, CT. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons Logan & Lucas McGrew and Jack Longmore. Pat leaves behind her devoted sisters Maureen Chevrette and her husband Emile of Naples, FL, Dianne Welch of Hebron, CT and Mary Ann Welch of Hebron, CT. She will also be remembered by many extended family members who felt her love always. In addition to her parents Pat was preceded in death by her nephew, George Chevrette.
Pat’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00am at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St., Hebron, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Pat’s memory.
