Panayiota "Betty" Yonclas

Panayiota (Betty) Yonclas, 88, passed away Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 in the company of family. Born May 20, 1929 in Greece, she was one of six children. She immigrated with her sisters to Montreal, Canada as a young woman. She married George Yonclas and moved to Willimantic where they started their family. A devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was the matriarch of the family and the glue that held us together. She had an unparalleled work ethic and worked numerous jobs to support her family. An active member in her church she always found time to help those in need and educate people about Greek Orthodoxy. She is survived by her sister Vaselike Grivas; son and daughter-in-law Costa and Lucy Yonclas; daughter and son-in-law Angelike and Daniel Roth; five grandchildren Ashley and George Yonclas, Panayiota, Robert and Zoe Roth; three great-grandchildren, Dino Yonclas and Kaydence and Spencer Saucier. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday August 4, 2017 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 247 Washington St., Norwich. Her Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am at the church, with burial to follow at the New Willimantic Cemetery, Willimantic.
