Otto Leopold Ausburger, 87, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Otto was born at home on October 14, 1924 to Jacob and Caroline Ausburger. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 36 years at Hamilton Standard. Otto resided on his farm where he enjoyed taking long walks, gardening and tending his fruit trees. He loved sitting under the apple tree and reminiscing about his childhood with family and friends. Camping was one of his favorite pastimes, along with hunting and fishing. Otto especially enjoyed boating with his son. Dad was a gentle, kind hearted, helpful and knowledgeable soul who loved his family and was known as the best grandpa ever by his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Brown) Ausburger, his son David Ausburger and his wife Loretta, his daughter Donna Herbert and her husband Dennis, grandchildren, Shaina Ausburger, Heidi and John Pinkston, his great granddaughter, Brittany Pinkston, a sister, Lillian Morgan of Vermont, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers William, Clifford and Arthur. His funeral services will Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Rte. 195, Willimantic.
