Olga Purvins

Olga Purvins, 103, formerly of Washburn St. Willimantic, widow of Vilis Purvins, died Thursday Dec. 18, 2003 at the Haven Health Center, Willimantic. She was born Dec. 8, 1900 on the family farm in Latvia, near the town of Bauska. She had been employed at the American Thread Co. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Talivaldis and Esther Purvins of Lebanon, 2 grandchildren; Mark Purvins and his wife Melissa of Lebanon and Wendy Barnett of Ledyard and 3 great grandchildren; Victoria, Rebecca and Nicholas Smolenski all of Ledyard. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. The Purvins family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Latvian Lutheran Church, 76 Windham Rd., Willimantic, Ct. 06226.
