Norman Edward Stone of Manchester, formerly of Hampton, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the age of 64. He was born in Windham on December 5, 1947 to Clarence and Beatrice Stone of Hampton. Norm was a 1966 graduate of Windham High School who went on to attend the Morse School of Business in Hartford, graduating in 1968. He subsequently attended Fort Lauderdale University and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. Throughout the years, Norm worked in various management positions, and also became a member of the Army National Guard Corps of Engineers. He loved sports of all kinds, was an avid Red Sox and UCONN basketball fan and also belonged to several bowling leagues throughout his life. On numerous occasions, Norm assisted bowling teams of Special Olympics athletes throughout the state. Most of all, Norm or "Pops" enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He was very proud of his Hampton heritage and always spoke of his memories growing up on a farm in this quaint country town surrounded by his fellow Hamptonites whom he viewed as close as family. Besides his parents, Norm is survived by his children, David Stone and his wife Chrissy of Chaplin and Bethanie Markowski and her husband Dave of Manchester; his former wife Judith Sommariva Deckert of Amston; three grandchildren, Aidan, Ava and Brendan Stone of Chaplin; two brothers, Raymond Stone and his wife LuAnne of West Suffield and Robert Stone and his wife Elaine of York Beach, Maine; two aunts, Phyllis Stone of Hampton and Mary Stone of Swanzee, New Hampshire and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you is offered to all of the nurses and doctors of Hartford Hospital who provided exceptional care to Norm and his family. Family and friends are invited to a committal service at the Litchfield Cemetery in Hampton on Thursday, June 28 at 5:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 6:00 pm at the Hampton Congregational Church at 263 Main Street in Hampton.
