It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Norman William Parent Sr. of Willimantic, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 20, 2010. He was born May 17, 1928 the son of Donat and Aldea Parent. He was married to the love of his life, Doris "Dot" Poudrier for 62 years. He is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Hall and her husband Robert and Susan Munro and her husband Doug; his sons Michael and his wife Carol, Norman Jr. and his wife Caroline and Christopher and his wife Monica; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son William. Norm was a U.S. Navy veteran and had been employed as a meat cutter in Willimantic by Stop & Shop for many years. He was a lover of all kinds of sports and an avid Red Sox Fan. He also loved to camp, play horseshoes, cards, darts and pool. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. A special thank you to all who cared for Norm at Douglas Manor. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday May 23nd between 2:00 and 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 12:00pm at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery.
