Norma Jean (Plante) Simrell, 42, of Mansfield, died Thursday September 18, 2003 at her home. She was born September 9, 1961 in Willimantic the daughter of Norman Plante and his wife Gloria of Brooklyn and Doris (Ellison) Durand and her husband Roger of Willimantic. She grew up in Willimantic and was an artist who loved to paint and draw. Norma Jean was employed as a cook at Eastern Connecticut State University and at the Willimantic Country Club. In addition to her parents she is survived by a son, Zachary A. Simrell of Mansfield, a brother Edwin Plante and his wife Sonja of Mansfield, a sister Debra Smith and her husband John of Mansfield, 6 nieces and 2 nephews, Shannon and Heather Plante, Brandi and Levi Saucier, Jazmyn Bartlett, Jennifer, Sean and Ashley Plante, a grandniece Alexis, a grandnephew Alex and a very dear friend Bernice Fortier. She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen H. Plante. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday 9/24/03 at St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will be private.
