Noella G. Bessette, 76, of Coventry, formerly of Lebanon, wife of Jules Bessette, died Friday Aug. 6, 2004 at the Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford. She was born Dec. 25, 1927 in St. Albans, VT., the daughter of Arthur and Gervaise (Goyette) Lamothe. Noella was the valedictorian of her class at Holy Angel High School in St. Albans. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, traveling and reading. Noella was active in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon for many years and prior to that in St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish in New London. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 7 children, Maurice Bessette of Oneco, Mary Duval of Andover, Michael Bessette of Sun Lakes, AZ., Ronald Bessette of Bolton, Anne Dukehart of Somers, Claire Bessette of Norwich and Norman Bessette of Lebanon; 2 sisters, Rita Lemaire and Pauline Dupuis both of Alburg, VT.; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Margaret Benedict and her brother Maurice J. Lamothe. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00am prior to her 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Lebanon. Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to your local church to have Masses said in her name or to the Phoenix Community Cancer Center, 142 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT. 06082.
