Nimfa Bernardo Obituary
Nimfa Garay Bernardo, born on June 17, 1949 in Magarao, Naga City in the Philippines, passed
away on March 17, 2022 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Nimfa was predeceased by her late husband, Adorante Bernardo, and her mother, Genara Garay.
Nimfa graduated nursing school in the Philippines. She is survived by her four children: Ma. Theresa B. Fosdyck with her husband, Loren and two children (Ahhria and Tyler); Ma. Luisa B. Le with her husband, Robert and three children (Yasmine Mai, Keri Lin and Justin Corey); Jhune Bernardo; and Ma. Reina B. Neirinckx with her husband, Benjamin and four children (Sabreina Ann and
Jessica Rae Brunelle from previous marriage, and Abbey and Noah Neirinckx). Nimfa was also survived by her long-time partner, Jorge Padilla.
Nimfa lived most of her life in the Philippines and emigrated to the United States in 2003 to be with her four children. She worked at Mohegan Sun where she met a lot of good friends and her long-time partner. She also left behind a lot of families in Canada and two younger brothers (Vicente and Noli) in the Philippines along with their families.
There are no calling hours. Her Funeral Mass to celebrate her life and her new journey to heaven will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10:00am at Saint Peter and Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Norwich.
