Nilsa Ruiz Gonzalez, 60, of Chaplin, wife of the late David Gonzalez, died Thursday July 21, 2005 at Hartford Hospital. She was born June 11, 1945 in Yauco, P.R. the daughter of Carmen Sule of Chaplin and the late Luis Ruiz. Nilsa had been employed in the area for a number of years as a social worker for various groups and agencies. She also was a teacher at the Windham Regional Technical School and was a substitute teacher in the Windham School System. She was most recently employed at a Colchester group home. Nilsa was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Willimantic. In addition to her mother, she is survived by 3 sons and daughters in law, David and Beverly Gonzalez of Willimantic, Jonathan and Teresa Gonzalez of Scotland and Steven and Nicole Gonzalez of Groton; a brother Luis Ruiz of Puerto Rico, 4 sisters, Judith De la Torre of FL., Dorcas Velazquez of Chaplin, Damaris Ortiz of Manchester and Shirley Brown of N.Y. and 8 grandchildren. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday between 2:00 and 4:00pm and again on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00am prior to the 11:00am funeral home service, with Pastor Wilson Roberts officiating.
