Nicholas J. Savino, 83, of Twin Hill Farm, Scotland died at his home on November 4, 2010. Mr. Savino, son of the late Joseph and Rose Savino was born in Bronx, New York on February 18, 1927. He was a 1945 graduate of Windham High School. He ran Twin Hill Dairy Farm together with his father and later with his sons, until his retirement. He was a founding member of the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department and a former chief. He also served as an Assessor for the Town of Scotland. Nick was an owner operator school bus driver for the Town of Scotland for over 50 years, and established the business of Savino Transportation, together with his son. He was predeceased by his wife Claire M. Savino. He is survived by his four children, twins Joseph Savino and his wife Lori of Scotland and JoAnn Strmiska and her husband Peter of Salem, Charles Savino and Cindy Shubert of Vermont, and Daniel Savino and his wife Melody of Scotland. He is also survived by his sisters Rose Cochran of Preston and Grace Barber of Norwich. He leaves four grandchildren Carrie, Kelsey, Nicholas, and Daniel. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday Nov. 7th between 1:00 and 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Please assemble in the church parking lot. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department, 47 Brook Road, Scotland 06264.
